POSITION SUMMARY :
The Senior Director, Merchandise Planning, leads the planning function across all Asia Pacific channels and markets. This role sets the regional planning vision, owns the Open-to-Buy (OTB) process, and aligns sales, inventory, and margin targets to support growth across full-price, outlet, wholesale, franchise, and joint venture businesses.
As a key partner to Merchandising, Finance, and Supply Chain, this role builds the planning discipline, tools, and team capabilities to drive commercial performance, optimize inventory productivity, and support strategic business goals
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB :
Strategic Planning Leadership
- Partner with Regional Merchandising, Buying, and Finance teams to translate top-down targets into actionable channel and sub-category plans, informed by sales trends and financial KPIs. Align planning budgets, forecasts, and seasonal margin goals to support brand, product, and profitability strategies
- Conduct competitor pricing analysis to assess current price positioning and recommend adjustments across entry price points, Good / Better / Best price tiers, and sub-category architecture
- Participate in costing reviews, ensuring alignment with financial goals, and collaborate with Regional Cost Optimization to track and report margin updates throughout the product development process
Open-To-Buy Management and Pre-Season Planning
Lead Regional OTB Process : Oversee the end-to-end OTB planning cycle, including calendar management, market consolidation, and alignment to brand, channel, product, and financial strategiesDrive Pre-Season Planning : Build mid- to long-term merchandise financial plans, assortment strategies, and detailed sub-category range plans by channelProvide Buy Guidance : Provide hindsight analysis to inform direction on style / color projections, SKU and depth plans, adoption rates, channel segmentation, and investment focus to improve sell-through and SKU productivityGlobal and Regional Stakeholder Management : Partner with global Planning and regional Merchandising, Finance, and Supply teams to influence assortments, address market needs, and lead cross-functional buy sign-offs anchored in KPIs such as net sales, margin, inventory, and sell-throughIn-Season Management and Business Analytics
Lead seasonal hindsight and investment reviews by providing qualitative and quantitative insights to shape future product line architectureLead weekly business management meetings with local planners to review core drivers, forecasts, opportunities / risks, markdown recommendations, and inventory reflows to drive cross-functional actionsPresent actionable business plans to brand leadership and senior management, gaining consensus and driving executionGuide planners in managing seasonal liabilities and inventory performance at a divisional level to maximize profitability and mitigate risksConduct ad-hoc analysis on channel and product performance, offering actionable recommendations to optimize resultsLeadership & Team Development
Create a dynamic team environment that encourages open collaboration and creativity within the brand merchandising planning and IBP communitiesLead and mentor a high-performing regional planning team; coach local teams to uplift capabilitiesIdentify top talent and champion best practice sharing / buddy system and build consistency in tools, processes, and reporting across the regionTrain, develop, and manage direct reports to support succession planning initiativesAssess talent to provide “stretch” opportunities for current staff. Qualifications :
Able to deliver strong presentations which include financial information and business strategies. Able to tailor the level of detail in presentations to reflect the audience (i.e., cross functional team or senior management).Possess excellent problem-solving skills. Able to develop several business strategies to solve the problem, create a financial forecast associated with each strategy and, through analysis, determine the most profitable solution to the problem.Demonstrate highly developed listening, written and oral communication skills. Able to make persuasive arguments both in written and oral form. Able to reflect on the appropriate sense of urgency and determine the proper business partners to resolve problems and share information.Able to foster relationships with other members of the cross functional team. 12-15 years industry experience in retail or wholesaleStrong merchandising, planning dist,ribution math & business acumenBachelor’s degree; Postgraduate and / or MBA preferredStrong EP-tool experience; advanced Excel skillsKnowledge of SAP, PBI preferredStrategic thinking to identify opportunities and recommend strategiesStrong time management skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skillsCreative in problem solvingFashion retailing background is a plusFluency in EnglishAbout PVH :
