The Department

The IT Wagering Solutions Department of The Hong Kong Jockey Club plays a vital role in the organisation by providing application solutions for the Sports Wagering portfolio. The department responsible for delivering the SP3d Fixed Odds Host Systems, which are essential for ensuring accurate and efficient betting processes. Additionally, the department is tasked with delivering racing wagering and lottery transaction host components, including comingling gateways, control systems, and associated information systems lifecycle. Oversee the entire Agi​le delivery process, ensuring high-quality and timely development of the Club's Backend Wagering Platforms.

The Job

  • Engaging in effort estimation, service and application design, code construction, testing, maintenance and support of wagering product & racing event management systems and IT solutions
  • Conducting feasibility studies to evaluate or pilot new business-enabling technology
  • Planning resources to accomplish development tasks, monitor and report the progress
  • Performing software development and conduct review according to business requirements and defined Club IT processes and standards
  • Seeking opportunities to continuously improve work practices and team achievements
  • Providing support and conducting trouble-shooting when problems are found
  • Communicating with business development, operations and assurance teams
  • Align personal development plan with business objectives and embrace the transformation to move the team / department forward.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 – 4 year of experience in software design development or support areas in real time systems
  • Wagering system experience and betting knowledge is definitely a plus but not essential
  • Programming skills in at least one of the following : Java, DAML, C / C++, SQL, C#, .NET, TCP / IP, socket, XML, JavaScript
  • Experience in application development with React.js and familiarity with RESTful APIs
  • Design and software development experience on Database, application systems on Linux / Windows or web systems are important
  • Experience in block chain product and Ledger platform development
  • Experience in messaging protocol (e.g. Solace), in-memory database design is an advantage
  • Experience in Cloud Native Database is an advantage
  • Knowledge in designing, developing and deploying solutions using container technologies in Cloud platform is a plus
  • Understanding of design patterns for Application, Microservices, Data, Infrastructure and Integration
  • Understanding of Agile software delivery and DevOps Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment practices
  • Experience of high performance transaction processing, event processing, distributed ledgers or Cloud infrastructure platforms are advantages
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Cantonese and Putonghua is also
