General Description :

The VP, Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Asia will be a trusted strategic finance leader responsible for driving financial performance, planning, forecasting, and decision support across the Asia region. This role is pivotal in shaping the financial strategy for a region that contributes half of the company’s global profits. The VP will partner closely with regional and country leadership (ADEC, GMs) to ensure financial goals are met and exceeded. This role will also work closely with Global Head of FP&A.

As a key member of the Asia Finance Leadership Team as well us Global FP&A Team, the role will partner with the business to drive financial decisions and enable business growth and outcomes. This role will also oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytics to ensure alignment with group objectives and regional business goals. The role requires significant interaction with business units, Regional Office functions, as well as counterparts in the Group office to achieve the financial performance of the Asia Segment.

This role also oversees the Regional Office Expenses team and works closely with leadership at both the Regional Office and Business Units to optimize spend to deliver against our financial and non-financial targets (ADEC and GMs). The role requires engagement with ADEC functional leads and senior management at the market level to understand and to challenge management’s expense plans and forecasts. Comprehensive understanding of insurance company financial metrics and the levers available to influence them is critical for success.

A key responsibility for the role is the organization and chairing of the monthly business reviews for the major Asia markets and using the outputs from this process to determine the key messages and the required materials for the Asia business review with Group. The role also includes leading business transformation initiatives forward to help us be a more Digital and Customer Leader organization.

The role requires the management of 2 AVP-level direct reports, who will take day to day responsibility for the operational aspects of the role. The Head of FP&A will be responsible for resolving issues across business units and functions and will be a key liaison between the Group office and those in the Asia Segment. Key stakeholders at the Group level will include the Global Head of FP&A, and the VPs responsible for Expense Management, management of functional expenses, and Planning & Analysis.

Position Responsibilities :

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the Asia region’s financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Provide strategic insights and financial analysis to support regional growth, profitability, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Accountable for providing high quality financial information and analysis and value-added insight and strategic support in the execution of Asia Segment business plan.
  • Partner with the Group CFO and Asia CEO to align financial strategy with business objectives.

Performance Management

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance across all Asian markets, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards to track business performance and drive accountability.
  • Lead monthly business reviews and present financial insights to senior leadership and the Group.
  • Business Partnering

  • Collaborate with country CFOs and business unit leaders to support strategic initiatives (i.e., product launches, market expansion, etc.)
  • Act as a trusted advisor to regional executives, providing financial guidance and scenario modeling.
  • Monthly Forecasts and Annual Plan

  • Lead the preparation of the annual plan and monthly forecasts.
  • Work closely with Senior Management and business unit representatives to manage the timeline, deliverables, and analysis associated with the monthly forecast and annual plan packages.
  • Monitoring the ongoing progress of the business, overseeing KPI reporting and ensuring that results meet business needs as well as determining future objectives and direction.
  • Presenting reports on a clearly understandable format, on an accurate and timely basis.
  • An in-depth understanding of the key business issues will be essential to allow the provision of relevant and insightful financial management and analysis of results.
  • Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Champion the adoption of advanced analytics, automation, and digital tools in financial planning.
  • Leadership and Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing regional FP&A team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence across finance teams in Asia.
  • Build effective relationships across a wide stakeholder group, including forging credibility with Asia Segment Business and broader Finance function.
  • Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements across all jurisdictions.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Individual Accountabilities :

  • Accountable in providing accurate and timely financial reports and analysis to support business strategy and decision-making (annual financial business plan, ADEC / ELT performance updates, forecasting, and expense management).
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies across all operations in the region.
  • Act as a key advisor on financial matters, providing insights and recommendations to the executive team.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance financial processes, systems, and tools for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners and regulators.
  • Key Shared Accountabilities :

  • Analysis and commentary for management reporting will be supported by Heads of Finance
  • Planning and forecasting modelling will be supported by business assumptions provided by Heads of Finance (incl. for projects, e.g., estimated KPIs, business case, etc.)
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in financial planning, analysis, and strategy, preferably in insurance or financial services.
  • Strategic and transformational experiences with strong financial acumen and a thorough understanding of the insurance industry
  • Expert negotiation and influencing at all levels, across multiple reporting lines and to navigate collaboratively and strategically across a highly matrixed environment. Adjusts style and approach to accommodate local / regional / global cultural norms.
  • Proven track record in a regional or global FP&A leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of the Asian insurance market and regulatory landscape.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial mindset.
