Job description

Job purpose :

  • Reports to the AXA HK Chief Investment Officer
  • Leads the Investment team of AXA HK, covering tasks including day-to-day management of AXA HK investment portfolio, optimization of investments under risk appetite / solvency / accounting constraints, dynamic portfolio rebalancing & management of derivative overlays.

Responsibilities :

oDesigns and implements the Investment Plan.

oParticipates in monthly Local Investment Committees.

oOptimizes treasury position and strategy, in collaboration with Finance teams.

oCollaborates with local Risk Management function to ensure compliance with balance sheet liquidity metrics and proposes remedial actions if required.

oReviews & directs investment portfolio rebalancing actions, ensuring appropriate matching of assets and liabilities. Instructs market buy / sell order if assets cannot be satisfactorily rebalanced across business lines and operating segments.

oReviews investment guidelines of internal and external asset managers. Conducts regular business reviews of investment mandates and holds asset managers accountable for compliance with guidelines and their relative performance.

oMaintains a list of investment strategies and their corresponding risk / return profiles (from economic and solvency perspectives).

oCollaborates with Head of ALM & Investment Monitoring to ensure that SAAs are attainable in reality and manages expectations regarding speed of convergence.

oProvides technical advisory to Head of ALM & Investment Monitoring with respect to the implementation of Cash Flow and / or Fair Value Hedge Accounting mechanisms.

oRecommends Risk Mitigation strategy with due consideration to : (i) CSM sensitivity profile; (ii) non-VFA earnings impact; (iii) CSM trajectory.

oRepresents AXA HK to participate in Macro Outlook & Investment Strategy calls organized by the AXA Group.

oResponsible for day-to-day management of all derivative overlays.

oDesigns and implements new hedging strategies as required to support capital management and product development initiatives. Proactively looks for opportunities to increase effectiveness and efficiency of derivative overlays.

oManages cleared and bilateral OTC collateral posting capacity.

oWorks with the Head of ALM & Investment Monitoring to determine hedging actions to maintain compliance with risk appetite metrics and to optimize positioning within allowed leeways.

oMonitors hedge efficiency of Risk Mitigated positions and proposes adjustments to derivative positions and / or accounting strategy as and when required.

oRepresents AXA HK to participate in the AXA Group Solutions Centre of Excellence (“Solutions CoE”).

oManages a team mostly with Investment background.

oSuccessfully implements efficient and transparent stakeholder management, on a cross-functional and culturally-sensitive basis.

oRole model for the staff, remaining positive and open-minded - even when under pressure.

Your Profile

o 7 to 10 years of working experience in investments or front office positions within major financial institutions, insurance companies or asset managers, with significant experience as decision maker (portfolio manager, investments allocator, trader).

o Advanced knowledge of cross-asset investments (especially Fixed Income), portfolio management and derivative strategies. Extensive experience managing dynamic derivative overlays is strongly preferred.

o Knowledge of insurance liabilities, LDI principles and specific constraints applicable to insurance investments (for instance, across solvency and accounting dimensions).

o Excellent management skills and business acumen to manage and develop Investment as a profit center and competitive edge for the business.

o At ease working in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
