Entry Requirements :

Candidates should have - (a) (i) a full-time teacher's certificate with physical education as one of the subjects studied, or equivalent; or (ii) an accredited Associate Degree / Higher Diploma in management of recreation, sports or horticulture from a Hong Kong tertiary institution, Hong Kong polytechnic, polytechnic university or the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent; (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and (c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST).

Note : (1) Those who have not studied physical education / sports, recreation or horticulture when obtaining the qualification in (a)(i) or (ii) above should have a Diploma / Graduate Certificate in recreation, sports or horticulture management offered by a recognized tertiary institution, or equivalent. Depending on individual subjects that a candidate has taken during his / her study, a candidate who majors in leisure study, tree management, botanical study, plant cultivation, arboriculture, biological science, garden and landscape design, etc. may also be considered. (2) For general awareness, a locally-accredited Hong Kong Associate Degree / Higher Diploma is at Level 4 under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF). While there are other qualifications under HKQF Level 4, for the purpose of this recruitment exercise, only Associate Degree / Higher Diploma in the relevant subjects is acceptable. (3) For civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. (4) All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the BLNST will be considered for appointment. For candidates who have not taken the relevant BLNST or have not attained a pass result in the relevant BLNST at the time of application, they may still apply for the job and arrangements will be made for them to take the relevant BLNST during the recruitment process.] Duties :

An Assistant Leisure Services Manager II is mainly deployed on - (a) serving as front-line manager in supervising venue staff and part-time staff as well as monitoring the performance of service and concessionary contractors in the daily management and operation of leisure facilities (e.g. parks, sports centres, sports grounds, swimming pools, beaches, camps and water sports centres, etc.) including horticulture and tree management, and running of recreation and sports programmes; (b) collecting information and data to facilitate review on district's needs for the provision of leisure services, including the promotion of higher venue usage rate and evaluation of recreation and sports programmes organised; (c) liaising with and providing assistance to the District Councils, clubs, associations, local organisations and voluntary agencies in the organisation of recreation and sports programmes; (d) assisting in the preparation of financial and other routine returns as well as answering public enquiries and dealing with complaints in respect of leisure services provision; and (e) taking legal enforcement actions in connection with leisure services management. [Note : Successful candidates should note the following - (1) they are required to work 44 hours gross per week, may be required to work shifts and irregular hours (including Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors; and (2) they will be subject to posting and transfer at the discretion of the Head of Grade, and may be required to work in the New Territories or remote areas (including outlying islands).] Terms of Appointment :

A successful candidate will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, the officer may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
