The Department

The Deputy Executive Manager / Senior Manager, Materials and Circular Economy supports the Head of Sustainability, to develop the Circular business model for the Club including strategies, policies, and innovation that enables design for circularity, the reinforcement life cycle of materials, adoption of new technology, reduction of material use and increase longevity, reduce the dependency from finite resources, adoption from sustainable sources, and the elimination of hazardous ones.

The primary role is on Racing and Membership business models, with a future expansion into other areas of the business. The achievement of those results is done by supporting the business to design operations and processes that require less use of materials or put them in closed loops.

The scope includes leading the materials efficiency efforts and its external reporting in collaboration with Integrated Reporting.

The Job

  • Develop and manage the Circular program through the development of strategy, goals, and roadmaps focusing on the adoption of sustainable materials, products, waste, and resources the Club needs to operate, and scale innovation. Ensure the roadmap and annual KPIs are in line with the Business Plans and the Club’s Sustainability Strategic Plan to meet Net zero goals aligned to meet HK and China government legal requirements.
  • Identify and execute new circular business initiatives, models, and solutions from idea, through pilot and scale to fully integrate into the organization Build a pipeline of innovation by evaluating new technologies and areas of partnership to advance the Club’s agenda and setting frameworks for sustainable materials and product attributes.
  • Manages cross-functional projects across the Club (Own operations and Supply Chain) in Materials project execution to accelerate the reduction of the dependency on finite resources and elimination of the ones impacting the environment and humans.
  • Build strong internal connections with Integrated Business Model functions and Procurement to unlock to educate and unlock the potential of new business model solutions for services, products, and materials end of life.
  • Act as a representative in key external partnerships and manage relationships with stakeholders and all necessary considerations to align with internal business unit strategies and long-range planning.
  • Track and report circular metrics and business impact regularly including waste of materials diverted, benchmark emerging recycling technologies, and any capital investment embeds circularity.
  • Create and maintain management systems and data to monitor performance to engage with business functions, Sustainability Committee, and substantiation for public reporting.
  • Translate the Circular program into risk assessment for the organization which is integrated under the broader Enterprise Risk management (ERM).
  • Participate and contribute positively to create a diverse and inclusive culture with trust and respect. Play an active role to support cross-team / division / department efforts and model collaborative behaviours. Establish and maintain communication and transparency by driving working groups, monitoring the progress of the CCW, program, and maintaining good relationships.
  • Drive member and customer-related initiatives to motivate keep materials in circulation
  • Support to the Head of Sustainability in the development of the biodiversity strategy and program, as well as the sustainable materials sourcing program.

About You

  • University degree in Computer Science / Engineering, Data Science, or Business Analytics or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline and relevant qualifications demonstrating a mature understanding of implementing sustainability projects in a large organization.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the field of environmental sustainability, waste management, material use, and research and development
  • Experienced in developing and implementing Circular strategies and Programs on material use and waste reduction
  • Capable to set up management systems, assess and monitor environmental aspects & impacts of operational activities
  • Knowledge in the Racing, Hospitability, and Construction industries.
  • Have existing relationships with environmental organizations in China and Hong Kong
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as Certified Project Manager and PMP or experience in Business Process Improvement and Total Quality Management
  • Experienced in executive engagement

    The level of appointment will be commensurate with qualification and experience. A contract employment will be offered to the successful candidate. Contract renewal will be subject to mutual agreement between the Club and the selected candidate.
