Centre for Language in Education

The Centre for Language in Education provides English enhancement programmes and services for students in the EdUHK. The appointee will be responsible for teaching English enhancement courses in English as the medium of instruction, providing various kinds of language services, e.g. co-curricular and extra- curricular activities and one-to-one teacher-student consultative sessions, assisting in the administration of courses and assessments, contributing to the development of teaching and learning materials; and building network with the Greater Bay Area (GBA) region. He / she will also be expected to contribute to the Centre’s projects and initiatives.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in English language / English language education / teaching English as a second / foreign language, plus a minimum of 4 years’ relevant post-qualification teaching experience. They should preferably possess a relevant professional teaching certificate, e.g. PGDE or qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognized by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong or other qualification of equivalence, and provide proven evidence of quality teaching and / or successful record of relevant professional experience. Experience in teaching tertiary students English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and / or workplace English is essential. Expertise in second language education with emerging technologies, content and language integrated learning (CLIL), English-medium instruction (EMI), discourse analysis, academic literacies or / and critical literacies is highly preferable.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.  Fringe benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 10% of the basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits.
