Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Valuation Actuary to join our APAC Valuation team. This role will be a key leader in various valuation-related activities across the APAC Life and Health business, with direct responsibility for leading a team of actuaries. The position is based in our Hong Kong office.

  • Production of quarterly reserves for Group results (US GAAP, SII) for business originated in North Asia (Korea, Japan, Greater China)
  • Responsible for end-to-end reserving process for the Hong Kong local statutory reporting (HK RBC) and provide support for the production of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment for the Hong Kong branch
  • Support and coordinate with auditors
  • Provide support on the annual assumption setting process, review the experience analyses produced on North Asia business and propose best estimate assumptions
  • Provide support in the implementation of various process improvements and global projects
  • Provide support for the annual business and financial plan preparation

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in L&H valuation, including deep understanding of one or more reporting standards
  • Understanding of risk-based capital frameworks (e.g. HK RBC) and Solvency II principles
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling tools such as AXIS, Prophet or RAFM
  • Familiarity with R, SQL, Python or VBA for data manipulation and automation
  • Strong communication skills : ability to clearly explain results, assumptions and variances against expectations to managers and senior leadership
  • Ability to lead a team and manage valuation projects
  • Experience managing valuation cycles, audits and regulatory submissions
  • 10+ years of experience in an actuarial role with a focus on L&H valuation
  • Fellowship from a recognized actuarial body (e.g. FSA, FIA, FIAA or FASHK)
