Job Description
- This role holder would carry a personal underwriting authority covering mass market and HNW or greater Face Sum Insured, and maximum level of substandard life authority under reinsurer auto-binding authority, and for declinature and postponement cases as appropriate
- Oversees daily operations and quality assurance of the Underwriting Services Team
- Monitors underwriting rules, guidelines and philosophy as to continue its market competitiveness and effectiveness
- Empowered to implement changes to underwriting practices including leading the Underwriting Rule Engine (“URE”) straight through processing initiatives to automate and streamline UW process. The role holder would also lead the streamlining customer experience project, implementing technology-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Lead the Underwriting Services Team and work effectively with others within the organization in achieving the delivery of the overall business objective and customer experience
- Develops training programs to uplift onshore and offshore team capabilities with a focus on HNW underwriting and ensure compliance of internal external regulatory requirements
- Engages with stakeholders, including but not limited to Chief Actuary, Chief Risk Officer, Head of Regulatory Compliance officer, Reinsurers, and distribution partners (bank and non-bank channels), to align underwriting strategies
Requirements
Proven experience in life insurance underwriting with focus on the High Net Worth marketFellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting, Fellow Life Management Institute, or Chartered Life Underwriter will be highly preferredHold a substantial financial sum insured authority of not less than USD 20mExcellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skillsStrong leadership skills, self-motivation and ability to work under pressureProficiency in both English and ChineseProfessional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and / or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements : Education & Experience University graduate with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, at least 2 years at managerial level Excellent analytical capability to identify patterns in data and have keen sense of pattern detection and anomaly detection Experience with data visualization like Power BI, Tableau, etc. Knowledge of programming languages like SQL, Python, R, Scala, etc. Demonstrated skill, comfort, and success in leading teams to deliver on analytics projects A track record of using quantitative analysis to inform commercialization decisions and product roadmaps Ability to understand and visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study Demonstrated business acumen, analytical skills and ability to link strategies to business priorities and initiatives Proven track record of delivering results in a dynamic high-growth environment with aggressive timelines Ability to proactively identify gap and address data analytics related issues Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new business domains and technologies Ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas clearly and concisely Hands-on experience with modern enterprise data architecture and business intelligence tool Communicate actionable insights using data, often for a non-technical audience Competency Sound problem solving and decision-making ability Proven ability to identify innovation opportunities, define and deliver innovative business function Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds Sound business knowledge in insurance industry Excellent communication, presentation, consultative, and interpersonal skills Others You are required to obtain the relevant license(s) if your job involves regulated activities Interested candidates kindly forward your CV to hr@sirius-partners.com
