Job Summary
- To work independently, underwrite and analyze new and renewal business utilizing Zurich Underwriting framework and within delegated authority levels
- Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry
- Develop and maintain relationships with distributors in support of business retention and acquisition
- Work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions
- Contribute to the development of propositions
Job Accountabilities
Apply Zurich Underwriting elements for new business & renewals, complete the assignments of high complexity and work within delegated authorityResponsible for measuring exposure & analyzing riskDetermine the technical price according to certified / agreed pricing processAccountable for quoting & setting coverage, negotiating terms & conditionsManaging account and build relationships in support of customer / business acquisition and retention (e.g., by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account)Proactively contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer and distributor insightsImplement the agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting disciplineLead and contribute to short term, defined scope projectsProvide guidance to lower level associates and proactively support development of self and othersJob Qualifications
Bachelor degree or equivalentOver 7 years of relevant Property underwriting experienceProven current knowledge of product and industry, as demonstrated in involvement in trade and industryTypically hold or is working towards relevant professional designationDemonstrate technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner who has progressed within underwriting positions of increasing responsibilityPractical market-facing underwriting experienceExperience in servicing multinational / complex accounts with large / key brokersAdded preference for skills in structuring multinational insurance business in a compliant mannerAbility to develop relationships with key business partnersPipeline management and new business developmentAbility to build trust-based business relationships with customers and producersFluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin speaking added advantageNegotiation, influencing and selling skillsOpen mind to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing thingsSelf-starter, proactive, results and execution orientedProactive team player who contributes across business lines to support team success and able to confidently engage with senior leaders on referralsProven ability to develop and execute on strategic & financial plans and growth initiativesArticulate, confident, assertiveCustomer centric, outgoing, develop relationshipBusiness savvy, smart trader and deal maker with a bigger portfolio picture in mindCandidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Underwriting ManagerWhy Zurich
