Associate, APAC Hedge Funds

The Research Associate will be involved in primary research and responsible for reaching out to hedge fund managers based in the Asia Pacific region to build relationships and obtain valuable proprietary information. This information consists of investment activities and preferences, fundraising and performance. This is a unique research role, requiring a sales-like mindset to unlock research relationships across the region. The role will also include handling data inquiries, quality assurance, data monitoring for consistency and client engagement regarding our Preqin Pro platform. The role will be based in Hong Kong.

What you’ll be doing :

Proactively communicating and building relationships with key professionals of all levels within the alternative assets industry to obtain valuable proprietary information on past, current and future investment activities including historic performance

Holding regular face to face meetings with APAC-based fund managers to gain fundraising and performance data

Working actively alongside the APAC sales team to build strategic research relationships with fund managers and other key regional associations

Representing Preqin at conferences and networking events

Updating Preqin’s online database with key financial information, statistics and analysis

Conducting bespoke statistical analysis for clients

Liaising with our teams in North America and EMEA, as well as collaborating with other departments in the company, to deliver requests and provide solutions

Supporting senior leaders on research projects and regional strategy regarding further data enhancement and development activities.

Contributing to research reports, blogs and publications occasionally

Conducting supplementary public / web research where necessary

What you’ll bring to us :

You have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with relevant industry experience of 2 years

Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Mandarin is a must

You possess highly proactive and enthusiastic approach to relationship building

You have strong research capabilities and investigative instincts

You perform effectively in a target-driven environment, working towards set KPIs and performance metrics

You are highly organised, self-motivated and collaborative.

Regional knowledge of the private capital industry, and alternative assets in general, is desirable

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is desirable but not essential

Previous work experience focused on communication and relationship management is highly desirable

Additional languages highly desirable as Preqin operates in a global market
