Description

The Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research invites committed frontline practitioners with expertise and management experience in various academic disciplines (Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, Science, PSHE and General Studies), inter-disciplinary learning (STEM, LaC, etc.

and student support areas (discipline and guidance,class ethos, Values Education, etc.) to join the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) in 2023 / 24 school year as School Development Officer(s) (SDO).

QSIP is an organisation established by the Hong Kong Institute of Educational Research in 1998, with the mission of actualising the philosophy of comprehensive school improvement in the capacity of external change agents.

Through the provision of professional school-based support, QSIP endeavours to strengthen teachers’ professional capacity, facilitating school improvement and enhancing the quality of education.

Over the years, QSIP has evolved from a project-based programme to an organisation conducting multi-projects supported by various funding sources and providing self-financing professional school improvement programmes to schools.

  • The appointee(s) will (a) provide school-based support for partner schools on a regular basis to enhance professional capacity of school leaders, middle-level leaders and frontline teachers;
  • b) train the school community to internalise the processes of building vision, setting priorities and establishing a governance structure;

c) conduct action learning and lesson study; and (d) conceptualise experience and good practices in school improvement, including school management, learning and teaching, and student development, in forms of article, exemplar, publication material, tool kit, and report.

Applicants of SDO I should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree, (ii) at least ten years’ relevant experience in primary or secondary education, preferably in school management and leadership, and curriculum development;

iii) solid experience in leading a department / functional group; and (iv) rich pedagogical content knowledge and teaching strategies in academic subject(s) to cater for learner diversity.

Preference will be given to candidates with : (1) higher degree related to subject discipline or education; (2) solid background equivalent to Principal Graduate Master (PGM) / Senior Graduate Master (SGM) in secondary school or Senior Primary School Master (SPSM) in primary school or above;

and (3) track record in facilitating school improvement at both school-level and department-level. Those with less experience (at least six years' experience) after obtaining the Bachelor's degree will be considered for the appointment as SDO II.

Appointment will initially be made on a full-time / fractional-time / part-time contract basis for one to two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
