Purpose of the role :

The Assistant Manager, Business Planning is primarily responsible for reviewing and analyzing the financial reports and compliance requirements for Aesop HKMO’s businesses, in order to support business decision-making processes. The role reports directly to the Commercial Director, Hong Kong & Macau and will assist with the budgeting and forecasting process as well as other business, strategic and financial activities. This role will also need to work closely and provide support to the regional finance teams.

Primary Accountabilities :

Financial Planning and Analysis / Business Partnering

  • Lead and monitor the budgeting and forecasting process with the relevant stakeholders whilst providing clear analysis and identifying potential risk and opportunities.
  • Prepare Monthly Business Reviews accordingly and highlight risk and opportunities for the markets on a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist Commercial Director in preparing business review decks to be presented to Regional teams.
  • Provide commentaries and explanation as to actual versus budget / latest forecast performance to Regional Finance.
  • Partner with HKMO’s Commercial Director to drive accurate and insightful sales performance analysis in various channels / doors.
  • Provide strategic analysis and financial appraisal when evaluating CAPEX investments to Commercial Director / Property team.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources team to ensure retail headcount planning is according to business needs while balancing for efficient use of resources.
  • Liaise with Demand Planning to ensure S&OP process is in place validating financial forecast and demand plan.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Retail Capability teams to evaluate efficient and effective use of investments to align towards business goals and strategies.
  • Review contracts and leases by providing financial evaluation to ensure clauses are not detrimental to the company.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks that contribute towards influencing commercial decision-making process.

Reporting and month end close

  • Review and analyse monthly management reporting to the Regional Finance Manager with proactive scrutiny of financial results, accuracy, and variance to budget
  • Evaluate and monitor costs and make recommendations on how to improve efficiency (new processes, new suppliers, new control tools etc.)
  • Ensure all monthly expenses and year end accruals are captured accurately and accordingly
  • Review all lease from a financial standpoint and ensure proper management
  • Ensure Accounts Receivable management is done on a regular basis
  • Technical Requirements (or Certification Requirements) :

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in one or more of the following degrees : Business, Accounting, Finance, Commerce or similar.
  • Professional qualifications : Globally recognized professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA etc.
  • Key Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required :

  • Solid experience in financial / business planning and analysis.
  • Able to demonstrate and possess good sense of business acumen.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, commitment to excellence, strong learning agility and results oriented.
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, etc), Experience with NetSuite ERP system an advantage.
