JOB SUMMARY

The global commodity manager must be able to see exactly how the global and strategic procurement policy fits in to the overall company strategy and ensure that procurement drives the fulfilment of these aims.

Responsibilities :

  • Development, communication and ongoing refinement of the Vertiv commodity strategy through regular (monthly) engagement with the cross functional global commodity team (regional commodity managers, procurement, marketing, engineering) and strategic supply partners
  • Development and leadership of the global commodity team encompassing regional and / or global marketing, engineering, operations and procurement teams to ensure regional and global needs are balanced and addressed in the overall best interests of Vertiv, its customers and its stakeholders

Consequently, the development of deep relationships with Marketing, Engineering and Regional Operations and Supply Chain teams will be critical to success

  • Commercial relationship management of key global, strategic suppliers , including contract negotiation, pricing, lead-time, inventory performance and quality performance (quality and execution).
  • Oversight, communication and reporting of commodity performance , including, but not limited to;

    • Technology and Innovation trends and progress

  • Material Inflation planning & reporting, including risk mitigation and cost reduction strategies and planning towards achieving the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Supply base development and management (supplier strategy, supplier population, preferred supplier list)
  • Identify and drive best practices, globally : (internal and vendor / supplier) related to sourcing, pricing, quality, efficiency, etc.
  • Keep Vertiv management abreast of developments with suppliers and in the electronics industry that affect Vertiv short-term business performance and long-term business strategy

    • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science and minimum 5  years global experience, specifically in strategic sourcing and commodity management. preferably in an Electronics commodity role and technical understanding of different types of high and medium voltage screw terminal electrolytic & Film caps, MLCC,  LCD displays, opto couplers and other passive devices for Windpower, Telecom & UPS applications.
  • able to lead and have the capacity to juggle several balls in the air simultaneously, whilst ensuring that the small details are not overlooked.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills are key, along with ability to clearly communication complex scenarios.
  • Requires very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and culture productive and lasting relationships remotely across a global organisation.
