The Role To effectively manage the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations functions, to ensure the provision of accounting services to all Link Group clients within the Retirement Solutions business. To manage, drive and ‘own’ the relationship between the client and the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations functions team, the outcome of which is the provision of a value-added service and a reduction in operational risk that facilitates the retention of existing profitable business and profitable growth of the client portfolio. Key Accountabilities And Main Responsibilities Strategic Focus
- Actively work to enhance the profile of the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations functions team across the organisation
- Enhance standardisation of business processes to drive operational performance
- Extend service offerings, identifying opportunities to increase services
- Lead projects which provide a value-added service and a reduction in operational risk to the Link Group which facilitate retention of existing profitable business and profitable growth of the client portfolio
- Regularly review work practices / procedures to identify opportunities to improve quality or productivity
Operational Management
Develop appropriate succession plans and increase skills within the Client Accounting teamManage resources and finance within the agreed budgetResponsible for the delivery of scheme accounting reports to clients as agreed and the relevant Regulatory ReportsResponsible for working with the appointed auditors to gain audit signoff on the financial operations of all schemes under administrationOversight of the various reconciliations processesChampion the implementation of new business processes to achieve beneficial improvementsManage organisational and technological change affecting the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations teamCollaborate with other teams within the Link Group to improve the overall performance of LinkPeople Leadership
Emphasise the importance of client relationships and the critical nature of the processes across the teamEncourage an environment of openness and information sharing within the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations team, by implementing regular team meetings and communication processesProvide career counselling and development opportunities for the Client Accounting teamGovernance & Risk
Ensure that all operations and practices are compliant with legislative requirements and Company policies and to critically appraise internal practices to achieve best practice across the Fund Operations, Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations teamExperience & Personal Attributes
CPA / CA qualifiedA minimum of 10 years accounting experience post qualificationsExtensive experience (5-10 years) in the pension / insurance industry in a management or leadership roleAchievement of Client Accounting EBITDA / Financial resultsCompletion of responsibilities within required deadlinesReporting is accurate and of high quality with minimal input from manager before submitting to clientsProactive with problem solving and analytical skills with organised and methodical approach to work undertakenMust be able to make objective assessment of findings, with recommendations on way forward if appropriateDemonstrate general knowledge and understanding of business wide processes, actively working with these areas to improve processesSuccessful day-to-day management of the Unit pricing / Crediting rate upload processDemonstrate an ability to discuss day-to-day processes with clients or other internal department managersContinuous improvement in the efficiency of departmental process and proceduresHigh levels of customer satisfactionCompliance with legal, tax, regulatoryStrong understanding of all accounting concepts (.. Accounting standards) and reporting issues, including tax effect accounting and unit pricingSound computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc) and General Ledger knowledge (PeopleSoft preferred)Ability to work with limited supervision, and under pressureStrong analytical and problem solving skillsStrong understanding of pension administration, legislation, laws and regulationsCulture @ Link Group
