Purpose :

  • This job is responsible for underwriting HNW business in Bermuda and requires strong expertise in underwriting, effective communication skills, and knowledge of Bermuda regulations.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform underwriting for High Net Worth including but not limited to client search, administration, assessment for residential, financial, medical risks, AML risk / SOW, etc.
  • Maintain service turnaround time to ensure that it falls within company service standard (SLA).
  • Ensure underwriting activities comply with company policies and regulatory standards
  • Maintain strong knowledge of life insurance products, operational business, and regulatory compliance including AML, CDD, KYC.
  • Review and escalate referral cases to senior when cases exceed delegated authority or require additional expertise, ensuring timely and appropriate decision making.
  • Managing complex cases, liaise with reinsures for facultative underwriting or second opinions as needed.
  • Work closely with case managers to provide excellent service to sale and distribution channels
  • Participate in underwriting related projects, dashboard report, underwriting system development and process enhancements, etc.
  • Ensure all onboarding procedures and guidelines are in line with AXA group underwriting guidelines and AML standard
  • Ensure adherence to Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulations

    • Qualifications :

  • University degree or above
  • Professional designations such as FLMI, FALU, LOMA, ALU etc.
  • Experience managing cross-border, international risks and complex medical hearth impairments.
  • Experience in working with brokers / agents
  • Experience in underwriting related projects
  • Experience in working in regulatory environment in Bermuda
  • Excellent written and communication skills – English; Chinese is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently
  • At least 15 years of Life underwriting experience, with at least 2 years in the HNW segment working with international brokers.
