The appointee will work closely with faculty to conduct and support empirical research in Fintech areas, specifically in the use of AI / ML and multimodal content analysis. Specific research tasks include but are not limited to natural language processing algorithms for Chinese texts, such as pre-training and fine-tuning of language models. The appointee is also required to perform any other duties as assigned.
Applicants should have a PhD degree (for Research Associate position), or a master's or bachelor's degree (for Research Assistant position) in computer science, data analytics, statistics, mathematics or related disciplines. The ideal candidate should have strong quantitative skills and experience in data cleansing, data manipulation, and analysis; have understanding of NLP techniques for text representation, semantic extraction techniques, data structures and modelling; and be able to work independently and team-oriented with good interpersonal skills. Experience in working with sentiment analysis, and possession of advanced text analytical skills in Chinese are highly valued. Knowledge of financial market will be an added advantage.
