The JC STEM Lab of Data Science Foundations (DSF Lab), led by Professor Xiaofang ZHOU, is a well-known research group within the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of HKUST. The DSF Lab focuses on (1) databases and associated techniques that enable efficient management, integration and analysis of complex data on a large scale, catering to various applications in business, science and personal domains; and (2) the convergence of databases and AI, encompassing the utilization of AI, such as large language models, to enhance databases as well as leveraging database technology to support AI applications.

We are looking for an officer to join our team and play a vital role in various research-related activities daily. Major duties include :

Project Management

• Project Management : Working with project team in preparing and carrying out research projects, including project planning, proposal and document preparation, progress monitoring, project progress reporting and post-project follow-up.
• Financial Management : Managing daily project expenses, budget tracking and cost optimization.
• Stakeholder Coordination : Communication and coordinating effectively with stakeholders, including team members and external partners, to facilitate project planning and management.
• Website Maintenance : Ensuring that project websites are up to date with latest research developments and providing technical support for website maintenance.

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree, 1 to 2 years of post-qualification experience is required, and exhibit strong analytical, communication and organizational skills. A strong command of written and spoken English and Mandarin (native speaker preferred), along with Cantonese, is highly preferred. Proficiency in producing well-structured research reports is also required. Familiarity with programming languages like Python and expertise in data visualization tools are advantageous. Priority will be given to holders of a valid visa to work in Hong Kong. Fresh graduates are welcome. (Duration : 1 year, renewable subject to performance and project needs)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
