Introduction :
Our client, a Japanese food wholesaler company in Hong Kong, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant General Manager to join their team in Causeway Bay. The ideal candidate will support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring the highest quality of service, and driving business growth. This role requires a deep understanding of the food industry, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple departments effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Driving the business growth of a thriving Japanese food and beverage trading business
- Assist in managing day-to-day operations, including inventory management, logistics, and supply chain coordination, sales, business development and contract negotiations. The right candidate will be trained to take over general management of the whole business with succession planning.
- Management experience needed : Supervise and mentor staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Sales and Marketing : Develop and implement sales strategies to increase market share and customer base. Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional campaigns.
- Customer Relations : Maintain strong relationships with key clients and suppliers , ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing any issues promptly.
- Financial Oversight : Monitor financial performance, prepare budgets, and analyse financial reports to identify areas for improvement.
- Compliance : Ensure all operations comply with local regulations and industry standards, including food safety and hygiene practices. 8. Strategic Planning : Contribute to the development and execution of business strategies to achieve long-term goals.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role within the trading industry focusing on import / export operations, preferably with a focus on food and / or beverage.Proficient in negotiating pricing strategies with suppliers and clientsExperience in a management position within a Japanese company is preferred. Demonstrated managing experience in teams of at least 3 to 5 individualsSkilled in profit maximization techniquesStrong leadership, excellent communication skills and organizational skillsFull proficiency in Japanese and English language is a must, Cantonese / Mandarin and other local languages a plusDetail-oriented, proactive, passionate and aggressive in growing businessAvailable to work occasionally during weekends for special eventsWilling to travel to Japan, Asian countries and Europe on business trips.
