Job summary

  • This position will be under the Employee Referral Program in Hong Kong.

Summary

Within, Operations, Premises & Country COOs (OPC) based in Hong Kong, Capital Market Operations (CMO) teams are responsible to process the transaction activities for Credit, Rates, FX / MM, Securities and Equities for multiple geographies (APAC and EMEA). There are 2 teams under CMO HK in charge of :

  • Capital Market Middle Office (CMM)
  • Capital Market Back Office (CMB)
  • Capital Market Middle Office team in HK is around 40 staffs and 6 sub-teams :

  • MO Sales and Client Services : In charge of deals originated by Sales including Trade validation, allocations, MTM reporting and collateral management
  • MO IRD / EIS : In charge of Interest Rate and Equity Derivatives
  • MO FX / MM / Credit : In charge of Foreign Exchange, Money Market and Credits
  • MO Post Trade : In charge of the processing activities from FO systems to BO systems
  • MO Reconciliation : In charge of the various reconciliation (FO-BO; FO-FO,…)
  • MO MDA : In charge of Market Data activities
  • This role is within the Middle Office dealing with Vanilla and Exotic Rates Derivatives.

    The position is based in Hong-Kong. You will report locally to the Head of Capital Markets Middle Office.

    Key Responsibilities

    Trade Processing & Monitoring

  • Provide support to Front Office business lines under Global Markets Division during Asian trading hours
  • Ensure transactional integrity across trading applications
  • Perform booking control, trade modification, cancellation, and / or trade event processing (ie : early termination, partial termination, unwind) sent by back office or front office upon trading approval and report profit and loss impact, if any
  • Provide an efficient post-trade support by ensuring trade information flows efficiently through deal processing from front office to back office system and front-office to front office system
  • Investigate and follow-up of breaks sent by back office, front office and other internal departments
  • Support local business development and volume increase
  • Manage operational risks efficiently and towards a 0 incident goal and escalate without delay to management on any unusual activity or issues
  • Initiate change to improve team organization, including but not limited to process change, internal workflow
  • Transversal and Managerial responsibilities

  • Assist to define and produce KPIs in order to monitor and benchmark effectiveness of the team
  • Ensure the controls and procedures are developed to support the business and reduce operational risks
  • Act as a point of contact for the introduction of new products and ensure that procedures are in place to correctly book and manage these transactions
  • Participate to all projects impacting your perimeter
  • Develop strong relationship with different stakeholders global

    Minimal education level

    Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

    Academic qualification / Speciality

    University Degree holder from discipline in Finance, Mathematics or Engineering

    Level of minimal experience

    6-10 years

    Experience

    Minimum 8-10 years of experience in Middle Office environment is necessary, minimum 3 years of previous Managerial experience

    Required skills

  • Comfortable with multi-tasking, project management and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to details and a self-starter who is highly motivated
  • Good judgement, alertness and common sense
  • Good analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skill
  • Versatile with PC tools and applications, e.g. MS Office, VBA
  • Technical skills required

  • Good knowledge of financial products and understanding of the operational risks involved in Capital Markets activities
  • Good analytical, organizational and interpersonal skill
  • Languages

    Fluency in English. Proficient in French or other Asian languages a definite advantage
