As a member of the Manulife HK Finance team, this role will manage Hong Kong tax compliance, reporting, and risk controls, while supporting financial projects and aligning tax strategies with business goals through cross-functional collaboration.
Position Responsibilities :
Tax Compliance and Reporting :
Oversee the preparation, reporting, budgeting, and filing of all Hong Kong statutory tax returns.
Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, including understanding the tax implications of change in accounting standards and financial system infrastructure.
Monitor and manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Prepare and present tax reports to senior management.
Analyze the impact of new tax legislation on the company and provide recommendations.
Risk Management and Controls :
Identify and mitigate tax risks through effective controls and processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes.
Strategic Collaboration :
Collaborate with the finance department in meeting month end closing schedules.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives and transactions.
Work closely with finance, legal, and other departments to align tax strategies with business goals.
Financial Accounting Support :
Support various ad hoc accounting and financial projects as needed.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline. Qualified CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
6 years of experience in tax management, preferably within the life insurance industry or Big 4 accounting firms.
Proven experience in statutory tax laws and regulations.
Familiarity with OECD BEPS 2.0 Global minimum tax rules is an advantage.
Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Experience in IFRS, HKGAAP, HKRBC, Macau GAAP financial reporting.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong time management skills and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g., Excel), accounting systems.
