Job Summary
- To work under limited guidance, underwrite, analyze new and renewal business by utilizing the Underwriting framework and within delegated authority levels
- Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in products and industry
- Develop and maintain relationships with distributors in support of business retention and acquisition
- Work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions
- Contribute to the development of propositions
Job Accountabilities
Apply the framework of Underwriting elements for new business & renewals, complete the assignments of high complexity and work within delegated authorityResponsible for measuring exposure & analyzing riskDetermine the technical price according to certified / agreed pricing processAccountable for the quoting & setting coverage, negotiating terms & conditionsManage account and build relationships in support of customer / business acquisition and retention (e.g., by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account)Contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer and distributor insightsImplement the agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting disciplineContribute to Team’s topline and bottom-line target and support any projectAssist in providing guidance to lower level associates and support the development of self and othersJob Qualifications
Bachelor degree or equivalentTypically holds or is working towards relevant professional designationIdeally over 3 years relevant Casualty underwriting or claims experience & knowledge; related insurance exposure and experience is requiredProven current knowledge of product and industry, as demonstrated in involvement in trade and industryDemonstrate technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner who has progressed within underwriting positions of increasing responsibilityPractical market-facing underwriting experienceExperience in servicing multinational / complex accounts with large / key brokersAdded preference for skills in structuring multinational insurance business in a compliant mannerFluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin speaking added advantageNegotiation, influencing and selling skillsAbility to develop relationships with key business partnersPipeline management and new business developmentAbility to build trust-based business relationships with customers and producersOpen mind to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing thingsSelf-starter, proactive, results and execution orientedWhy Zurich
