The Sustainability / Net-Zero team is seeking an aspiring Sustainability Assistant Manager (Energy & Emissions) to support key decarbonization projects underway on our Clear Water Bay campus as part of the HKUST Net-Zero Action Plan.This 12-month role is ideal for candidates with experience in energy management to gain greater exposure in building energy retrofits, the latest decarbonization solutions and energy optimization systems.The role also will be involved in energy and greenhouse gas analysis.
Duties
Candidates will work on cutting-edge building retrofit projects that serve as demonstration of building energy optimization technology and green financing, while gaining exposure to consultants, suppliers, and our campus management teams.The project will be used to engage external stakeholders in Hong Kong on the energy performance contracts model.Reporting to (and collaborating with) the Sustainability Manager for Net-Zero, you will engage with various campus stakeholders and external parties to :
- Provide project management support for building retrofit projects / programs aligned with key decarbonization strategies;
- Assist in collaborating with academic staff, users, consultants and suppliers, and serve as a bridge with our campus facilities teams;
- Analyze building energy, greenhouse gas and occupancy data, building services specifications, and digital twin to evaluate opportunities for improvements and quantify energy reduction from improvements;
- Provide administrative support to reports, internal and external audits, request for information, site survey, as well as tendering and procurement matters; and
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Sustainability / Net Zero Office or their delegates.
Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years’ solid working experience in building energy management and / or systems which could include energy modelling, MEP digital twin, and / or internet of things smart metering. Past experience with building retrofits an advantage.Hands-on project management experience. Experience in energy data analytics is a plus.Good interpersonal, communication and technical presentation skills.Good command of English and Cantonese.Requirements :
Bachelor Degree or above in Energy Science & Engineering / Building Services / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;Have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills;Professional qualification / membership related to green building certification, energy, environmental or sustainability management are an advantage; andTeam player in a cross-cultural working environment.Duration : this is a one-year appointment, with the expectation of using this experience to build competence and professional experience.
