Job Summary
As a Senior Construction Underwriter, North Asia in the SCOR Business Solutions (SBS) team ,you will be part of the regional construction team, to underwrite corporate construction business in the Asia-Pacific Region, with the following focus :
- Develop and manage business with placement brokers in North Asia
- Advocate SCOR’s value propositions and build & maintain SCOR reputation in the Construction Market by regular Insured clients’ meetings and active involvement in Risk Engineering
- Adheres SCOR underwriting guidelines and respective ICS control
Key duties and responsibilities
Under the direct authority of the APAC construction manager and the strong support of the Global Head of Construction and in coordination with the commercial managers, risk engineers and other lines of business, you will be involved in the following activities :
Underwriting activities
Produce new business from the APAC region in Contractors All Risks (CAR) and EAR (Erection All Risks) policies on a Single Project or Annual basis form, insurance and reinsurance.Underwrite, build and maintain a profitable portfolio in accordance with the SBS underwriting guidelines, Roadmaps and more specific ad ’hoc guidance.Underwrite in a technical manner to assess risks in order to determine their insurability and apply appropriate terms and conditions.Contribute to the development and quality of the portfolio in accordance with the underwriting policy and the direction being selected by the Global Line of business.Give added value to the Global Construction teams on specific technical and / or language skillsCorrectly service the In-force portfolio paying particular attention to profitability.Responsibly manage data recorded in our information systems to give an accurate representation of the risks subscribed and to allow portfolio analysis.Populate and maintain the Underwriting platform and supervise the administration of the OMEGA back-office tool (in liaison with the Technical Assistants) in relation to new or existing accountsRegularly interact with our claims team to inform the underwriting process.Contract Management
Comply with internal risk management and compliance, ensure data quality and reporting to all our IT systems, Forewriter, Omega, UP, Saleforce.Ensure proper management of contracts (endorsements, renewals, claims…) and proper control of the accuracy of data keyed into the IT system;Maintain compliance, profitability and sustainability as key drivers for decision makingSegment and Client Management
Contribute to the commercial activity for the Region, with a specific focus on North Asia brokers.Build and maintain relationships with clients and their intermediaries (brokers, ceding companies) with a specific focus on lead placements and long term clients.Visit regularly our clients and project sites (approx. 10-20 days of business travel per year)Promote SCOR to our customers by using the communication and marketing products (seminars, forums, materials etc).Identify new business targets in order to develop a profitable profile for Scor Business Solutions.Work in close cooperation and coordination with your colleagues in the SBS network where appropriate for sharing of business objectives to produce the best response to your producers and for the division.Adopt a solution-oriented customer centric view, in building on cross selling with other lines of business or with P&C treaty for facultative servicesGlobal Construction Team
Participate to broader Global construction initiatives and projects.Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringEstablished underwriter with at least 10 years of construction underwriting experience in the North Asia regionProven underwriting skills including technical expertise and wording negotiationGood market relationshipsEstablished client relationshipsExperience of writing international businessReinsurance and Insurance knowledgeIndustry background in the construction industry would be appreciated, Civil engineering or mechanical engineering, or construction contract management.Competencies
