The Office of Service-Learning (OSL) is looking for a Project Engineer with a strong interest in designing exciting mechatronic products and nurturing future generations of innovators.

The position offers opportunities for innovators to tackle unique challenges and develop novel products and applications with a multinational team of engineers, social workers and scientists. The ideal candidate is interested in designing products that improve the living in urban and rural environment. Our ongoing design products encompass a wide range, including ultra-violet disinfection robots, transparent filtration masks, intelligent wheelchairs, applications powered by OpenAI, and VR applications. The appointee will also support the design and delivery of technology literacy programmes to undergraduate students. The position will offer on-the-job training and is open to fresh university graduates.

Responsibilities

The appointee will be required to :

• Design innovative mechatronics products, humanitarian technologies and interactive applications for making a real impact
• Collaborate with product designers, social workers and other professions to conceptualise, design, and develop integrated solutions
• Design and deliver stimulating technology literacy programmes for students, faculty, and community members
• Provide supervision and technical support to students engaged in design and technology-heavy competitions
• Support entrepreneurship events and facilities (including student start-ups, coworking space operations, and programme promotions)
• Perform general administrative duties (including report preparation and programme coordination)

Requirements

Successful candidate will be working in a team with diverse expertise from science to engineering, and social science to marketing. Preference will be given to candidate with passion in solving social problems with technology.

Candidates with less / more experience will also be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Salary and Fringe Benefits

The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
