As a result they are now looking for a high calibre lawyer or compliance expert to join the team in Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Legal, Risk and Compliance, you will be a key member of the regional team to continue developing a strong framework for risk and compliance for the business. You will
- Be responsible for reviewing and updating policies and processes to ensure a robust framework so business can be conducted to the highest regulatory standards
- Work with the Partners, stakeholders and business heads to understand corporate goals and offer guidance and advice to navigate appropriate decision making and the right forward looking approach
- Be a key business partner and trusted advisor to work together to resolve issues and identify pragmatic solutions
- Work across all internal functions and business heads to embed and promote a strong risk and compliance environment
- Hands on to review commercial contract terms for internal and external client work, and provide practical solutions to enable business to proceed appropriately
- Mange all aspects of conflicts, compliance, AML and other areas of risk as appropriate
- Support, develop and mentor junior members of the team
Job Requirements
This is an attractive opportunity for a risk and compliance lawyer looking to step up into a more commercial and non-fee earning role working alongside the business. You should be :
A qualified lawyer by background, or have a minimum of 8-10 years’ of experience of working in a risk and compliance role in a similar business or professional services environment, but not exclusively in financial servicesKnowledgeable in all areas of risk and compliance including conflicts, AML, financial crime, data privacy etcConfident and have the executive gravitas to work with senior stakeholders and the business headsAble to engage in conversation with the business, be intellectually curious, build strong relationships and develop trustCommercially orientated and be practical and diplomatic in making appropriate judgement calls together with the businessHave excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence with conviction and win buy in to decisionsWork self-sufficiently and independently, be responsible and take ownership for your functionA strong team player with an innate service approach to collaborate across all areas of the firm
