Head of Digital Architecture

Purpose

Chubb Life Global Office in Hong Kong is seeking a strategic and visionary leader as our Head of Digital Strategy & Platforms to drive Chubb Life’s digital transformation. Reporting directly to the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO), you will define and execute the comprehensive digital platform strategy, oversee the selection, development, integration, and enhancement of digital platforms, ensuring agility, security, scalability, and innovation. You will also be responsible for defining the roadmap for Chubb Life’s journey to the Cloud.

Your leadership will shape our digital landscape, aligning it closely with strategic business goals, optimizing customer experiences, and fostering sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy Development & Execution

  • Formulate, articulate, and drive a comprehensive digital platform strategy aligned with Chubb Life’s long-term business objectives, emphasizing digital-first and customer-centric solutions
  • Work with the Chief Transformation Officer to implement the Digital-first Target Operating Model. Initially for core operations and then more broadly across the entire organization
  • Lead strategic planning sessions with executive leadership, proactively identifying opportunities for digital innovation and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment of digital initiatives, fostering close collaboration with internal stakeholders including product management, operations, risk management, cybersecurity, finance, procurement, change management, people, and culture teams.
  • Own the Demand function, optimizing how digital work and initiatives are accepted by the markets, ensuring clarity of requirements, feasibility, and alignment with measurable business outcomes.
  • Ensure strategic and technological alignment with regulatory considerations, proactively identifying compliance requirements and incorporating these into digital initiatives to mitigate risks and optimize operational effectiveness
  • Define and implement Chubb Life's Reference Architecture, ensuring adherence to established architectural standards and best practice
  • Apply financial discipline through strategic budgeting, resource allocation, and meticulous monitoring of digital investment outcomes.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging analytics and performance metrics to ensure optimal operational and financial results.

Platform Engineering & Integration

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight in designing, developing, and continuously improving highly robust, secure, and scalable digital platforms
  • Promote a "Platform First" mindset, ensuring seamless integration across cloud infrastructure, diverse application ecosystems, and the broader digital asset landscape
  • Foster adoption and refinement of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) across the digital platform teams to maximize responsiveness, enhance flexibility, and accelerate innovation.
  • Help promote a comprehensive xOps culture (DevSecOps, ApiOps, LiveOps, FinOps, TestOps), emphasizing robust automation frameworks, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and continuous delivery processes
  • Apply AI-enabled Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, enhancing capabilities in automated testing, compliance as code, infrastructure as code (IaC), and advanced integration adaptors
  • Lead the development and implementation of Chubb Life's Platform Architecture, ensuring architectural integrity, scalability, security, and efficiency
  • Champion innovation, continuously assessing emerging digital technologies and trends, and effectively integrating them into the platform strategy to sustain Chubb Life's competitive edge

    • Journey to the Cloud

  • Define Chubb Life’s Cloud strategy, understanding the nuances of what should be migrated to the cloud and what is more effective to leave on premise (based on the 7 Rs strategy : Retire; Retain; Rehost; Relocate; Repurchase; Replatform; Refactor)
  • Partner on all Cloud transformation initiatives, advocating the adoption of cutting-edge cloud-native technologies and solutions across Azure, AWS, and GCP platforms
  • Lead Cloud adoption and migration initiatives, developing detailed placement / wave planning strategies while ensuring adherence to Cloud Sovereignty and Cloud Financial Management (CFM) principles
  • Support Cloud infrastructure modernization projects, ensuring strict compliance to Chubb practices, regulatory standards, and robust internal governance mechanisms
  • Promote engineering excellence by focusing on minimizing the cost of change through advanced architectural patterns and automation.
  • Ensure cloud environments enable rapid provisioning, de-provisioning, and consistency across development, testing, and production environments
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with regulatory body guidelines, and international cybersecurity and operational standards throughout the cloud adoption journey.

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related technical or business field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in digital strategy formulation, platform engineering, or technology-driven transformation roles. Prior experience within insurance is preferred.
  • Proven expertise in leading large-scale digital transformation programs, demonstrating the ability to translate complex business needs into successful digital outcomes.
  • Extensive experience and deep technical knowledge in Cloud-native technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP), agile methodologies, comprehensive DevOps ecosystems, and enterprise-grade platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing enterprise reference architectures and platform architectures.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements, cybersecurity standards, and risk management frameworks specific to the insurance and financial services industries, including both strategic and technological regulatory considerations.
  • Management presence, strong communication skills, and a proven track record of influencing and collaborating effectively across Technology and the Business.
